Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Asphalt Raker to join our road construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for spreading, leveling, and smoothing hot asphalt materials to ensure strong, durable, and safe road surfaces. This role is physically demanding and requires excellent stamina, teamwork, and attention to detail to deliver high-quality road construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spread, level, and smooth asphalt materials using rakes, lutes, and hand tools.

  • Work closely with paving machine operators to ensure even distribution of asphalt.

  • Identify and correct imperfections in the asphalt surface during application.

  • Ensure compaction and finishing of surfaces meet project and safety standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and proper use of tools and equipment.

  • Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective gear at all times.

  • Assist the road construction crew with additional tasks as needed to support project completion.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to operate and use asphalt rakes, shovels, and other hand tools effectively.

  • Good knowledge of asphalt paving techniques and standards.

  • Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Team-oriented mindset with effective communication skills.

  • Attention to detail to achieve smooth and accurate finishes.

Experience

  • Prior experience as an Asphalt Raker or in road construction is preferred.

  • Entry-level candidates with strong physical capability and willingness to learn will also be considered.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position.

  • Typical work hours: 8–10 hours per day, Monday to Saturday.

  • Overtime may be required based on project deadlines and site requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of road paving materials and methods.

  • Ability to follow directions and work in coordination with a paving crew.

  • Strong endurance and ability to handle repetitive, physically demanding tasks.
