Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Construction Manager to support the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects. This role involves working closely with the Construction Manager, site supervisors, contractors, and project teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving ability, and a passion for managing complex construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Construction Manager in overseeing day-to-day construction operations on-site.

  • Support project planning, scheduling, and monitoring to ensure timely progress.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to maintain smooth project flow.

  • Conduct site inspections to monitor work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to specifications.

  • Prepare and maintain reports on project status, costs, and progress updates.

  • Assist in resolving on-site issues, conflicts, or delays promptly and effectively.

  • Ensure all safety regulations and building codes are strictly followed.

  • Support procurement of construction materials and ensure timely delivery to the site.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records for compliance and reporting.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff, laborers, and site teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, processes, and project management principles.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and construction plans.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and construction project management software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera).

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience in construction project coordination or management.

  • Prior experience in large-scale residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects is an advantage.

  • Experience in supervising on-site teams and managing subcontractors preferred.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position, typically 40–48 hours per week.

  • Flexibility required for extended hours or weekends depending on project demands.
