Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to support residential construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and ensuring all proposals are competitive and profitable. This role requires strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality outcomes within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.

  • Review architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to determine project scope.

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to assess project requirements and timelines.

  • Analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality and safety standards.

  • Maintain and update a database of costs, suppliers, and subcontractors for future projects.

  • Monitor project budgets and provide cost reports throughout the construction lifecycle.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and pricing trends.

  • Proficiency in estimation software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).

  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator in residential projects.

  • Proven track record of preparing accurate cost estimates for medium to large-scale housing developments.

  • Experience working with subcontractors and vendors in the residential construction sector.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position.

  • Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

  • Flexibility may be required depending on project deadlines.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of construction drawings, contracts, and cost analysis.

  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
