Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Construction Safety Officer (OSHA Certified) to oversee and ensure workplace safety across our construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for enforcing health and safety regulations, implementing safety programs, and conducting site inspections to guarantee compliance with OSHA standards. This role is crucial in promoting a safe working environment, preventing accidents, and protecting both workers and company assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor construction sites to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.

  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identifications.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and procedures.

  • Deliver safety training sessions and toolbox talks to employees and subcontractors.

  • Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents; prepare detailed reports with corrective action recommendations.

  • Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and contractors to promote a culture of safety.

  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including permits, checklists, and compliance records.

  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related issues on-site.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • OSHA certification (minimum OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety).

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not mandatory with equivalent experience).

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, construction safety laws, and industry best practices.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence safe behavior on-site.

  • Ability to identify risks, implement corrective actions, and drive compliance.

  • Proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.

  • Experience in high-rise, commercial, or infrastructure construction projects is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated record of reducing incidents and improving workplace safety standards.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position.

  • Standard hours: Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (with flexibility based on project site requirements).

  • Occasional overtime may be required depending on project deadlines.
