Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and other specialized equipment used in large-scale construction projects. You will play a vital role in ensuring that site operations run efficiently, safely, and according to project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, cranes, and loaders for construction tasks.

  • Perform equipment inspections before and after use to ensure safe operation.

  • Follow site plans, grade specifications, and supervisor instructions accurately.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.

  • Conduct basic maintenance and report mechanical issues to the maintenance team.

  • Assist in material movement, site grading, trenching, and excavation activities.

  • Collaborate with site supervisors, engineers, and construction crew members to meet project requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry safety standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training in equipment operation preferred).

  • Valid operators license or certification for heavy equipment.

  • Strong knowledge of construction site safety practices.

  • Ability to read blueprints, site drawings, and grade stakes.

  • Good physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions.

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of proven experience as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry.

  • Experience working on residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position with standard working hours of 8–10 hours per day, Monday to Saturday.

  • Overtime or weekend shifts may be required based on project needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of operating heavy construction machinery.

  • Knowledge of soil types, grading, excavation, and load capacity.

  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address site challenges.
