Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking skilled and detail-oriented Steel Fixers to join our bridge construction projects team. The role involves fabricating, positioning, and securing steel bars and mesh to reinforce concrete structures. As a vital part of the construction crew, you will contribute directly to the strength and stability of large-scale infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on role suited for professionals who thrive in physically demanding environments and take pride in building long-lasting structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to determine steel requirements.

  • Cut, bend, and shape steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh using appropriate tools and machinery.

  • Position, align, and secure steel bars and mesh in formwork for bridge construction.

  • Tie rebar together with wire, clips, or welding to create strong reinforcement frameworks.

  • Work closely with engineers, foremen, and other construction workers to meet project requirements.

  • Ensure reinforcement work complies with safety regulations and structural codes.

  • Inspect and verify the quality of reinforcement before concrete pouring.

  • Maintain tools and equipment in safe and proper working condition.

  • Follow site health and safety procedures at all times.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of steel fixing techniques in bridge or heavy construction projects.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

  • Skilled in the use of cutting, bending, and tying tools.

  • Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor.

Experience

Working Hours

  • Standard working hours: 8–10 hours per day, 6 days per week.

  • Overtime may be required based on project demands.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of steel reinforcement standards and specifications.

  • Familiarity with bridge construction techniques and concrete reinforcement.

  • Ability to work safely at heights and in outdoor conditions.
