Job Summary

Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Safety Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance within our UK logistics and warehouse facilities. The ideal candidate will ensure all warehouse operations align with UK workplace safety laws, company policies, and industry standards. This role involves active participation in safety audits, risk assessments, employee training, and implementation of preventive safety measures. Candidates with experience in industrial or warehouse safety management are highly encouraged to apply. Visa sponsorship will be considered for qualified international candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.

  • Develop and implement safety procedures, guidelines, and emergency response plans.

  • Ensure full compliance with UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) standards and warehouse regulations.

  • Lead safety training programs for warehouse staff, forklift drivers, and supervisors.

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans.

  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation for audits and internal reviews.

  • Collaborate with operations managers to integrate safety standards into daily workflows.

  • Monitor the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and enforce compliance.

  • Review contractor safety plans and ensure external vendors meet safety criteria.

  • Promote a proactive safety culture, encouraging open communication and continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification (preferred or willingness to obtain).

  • Strong knowledge of UK workplace health and safety regulations.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Proficiency in preparing and delivering safety reports and presentations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations.

Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience as a Safety Officer or HSE professional in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment.

  • Candidates with experience in hazard control, safety audits, or warehouse management systems will be prioritized.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position: 40–45 hours per week.

  • Shifts may vary depending on operational needs, with occasional weekend or evening work.
