Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking highly skilled and professional Remote Interpreters (Over-the-Phone and Video Remote Interpreters) who are fluent in one or more foreign languages. As a Work-From-Home Interpreter, you will facilitate real-time communication between English-speaking and non-English-speaking parties in a variety of industries, including healthcare, legal, business, education, and government. This role is ideal for candidates who possess strong linguistic abilities, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to think quickly and accurately under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and clear consecutive interpretation services over phone or video platforms between English and your target language(s).

  • Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and integrity at all times.

  • Assist clients in understanding and exchanging information accurately and efficiently.

  • Handle conversations in diverse subject matters such as medical, legal, insurance, technical, or customer service scenarios.

  • Manage interpretation sessions with patience, neutrality, and cultural awareness.

  • Accurately render spoken communication while preserving tone, intent, and meaning.

  • Follow all company guidelines, client protocols, and quality assurance processes.

  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality for assigned interpretation sessions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in English and at least one additional language (spoken fluently).

  • Excellent listening, comprehension, and communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret accurately without omitting, adding, or changing meaning.

  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity when handling diverse conversations.

  • Access to a quiet, private workspace with reliable internet connectivity.

  • Familiarity with remote communication tools such as Zoom, Teams, or proprietary OPI/VRI platforms.

  • High level of professionalism, ethics, and respect for confidentiality.

Experience

  • Previous experience as an interpreter or translator (OPI/VRI) is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Candidates with backgrounds in bilingual customer service, linguistics, education, or healthcare are encouraged to apply.

  • Training or certification in interpretation is an advantage (e.g., CCHI, ATA, or state certifications).
