Crusher Mechanic

Location: Fujairah, U.A.E.
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Workshop / Maintenance In-Charge

Job Purpose:

To perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance of all crusher plant machinery, heavy vehicles, and supporting mechanical systems to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the crushing plant.

Key Responsibilities:1. Equipment Maintenance

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults in crushers (jaw, cone, impact), screens, conveyors, feeders, gearboxes, and related systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication, adjustment, and replacement of worn-out parts.
  • Repair and replace defective mechanical components including bearings, shafts, pulleys, liners, belts, chains, and couplings.
  • Ensure all crusher plant equipment is properly aligned, balanced, and calibrated after repairs.
  • Support in dismantling and assembling of machinery for overhaul or major repairs.
  • Maintain maintenance logs and service records accurately.

2. Troubleshooting & Breakdown Support

  • Quickly identify the root cause of equipment failures and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in planning and executing shutdown maintenance.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergencies, including night shifts if required.
  • Coordinate with electricians and operators to ensure integrated problem solving.

3. Workshop & Tools Management

  • Maintain all mechanical tools and workshop equipment in proper working condition.
  • Ensure proper use, storage, and calibration of tools and lifting devices.
  • Support the Workshop In-Charge in maintaining inventory levels of mechanical spares and consumables.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Follow company safety policies, risk assessments, and permit-to-work procedures at all times.
  • Ensure lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) practices before performing maintenance tasks.
  • Report any unsafe condition, near miss, or potential hazard to the HSE Department immediately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order in the workshop and plant area.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma / ITI Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a crusher plant, quarry, or heavy equipment workshop.
  • Strong technical knowledge of crushers, screens, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in welding, fabrication, and fitting work is an advantage.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and part catalogs.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically fit and capable of working under outdoor industrial conditions.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
  • Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems.
  • Safe working practices and adherence to HSE rules.
  • Team coordination and time management.
  • Attention to detail and quality workmanship.

  • Equipment downtime vs uptime.
  • Preventive maintenance completion rate.
  • Breakdown response time.
  • Spare parts and tool management efficiency.
  • Safety performance (zero accidents or violations).

Working Conditions:

  • Based at the Fujairah Crusher site.
  • Outdoor and workshop environment with exposure to dust, noise, and heat.
  • May require working in shifts, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
