Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Mortgage Underwriter specializing in auto and home insurance to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze mortgage applications for auto and home insurance coverage, assessing risk factors and eligibility.

  • Verify documentation, including credit reports, income statements, property details, and insurance policies.

  • Approve, modify, or decline mortgage applications based on thorough risk analysis and underwriting guidelines.

  • Communicate underwriting decisions clearly to internal teams and external clients when required.

  • Maintain accurate records of applications, decisions, and communications in the companys system.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, underwriting standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate with mortgage brokers, loan officers, and insurance partners to resolve discrepancies or obtain additional documentation.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve underwriting processes and enhance risk management strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar underwriting role.

  • Strong understanding of auto and home insurance underwriting principles.

  • Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local mortgage and insurance regulations.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple applications simultaneously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in mortgage underwriting software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant platforms.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting, preferably with a focus on auto and home insurance.

  • Experience working in a remote or hybrid work environment is an advantage.

  • Prior experience with risk assessment and regulatory compliance in mortgage or insurance sectors is highly preferred.

Working Hours

  • Full-time remote position with standard working hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

  • Flexibility for occasional extended hours to meet deadlines or manage high-volume periods.
