Job Summary

The Elite Job is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Remote Underwriter – Commercial Lines to join our dynamic insurance team. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, and managing commercial insurance risks while maintaining strong client relationships. You will utilize your underwriting expertise to make informed decisions, ensure compliance with company policies, and contribute to the profitability and growth of our commercial lines portfolio. Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and underwrite commercial insurance applications, including property, liability, and specialty lines, ensuring compliance with company guidelines.

  • Conduct risk assessments, analyze financial statements, loss histories, and other relevant documentation to determine appropriate coverage and pricing.

  • Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to structure tailored insurance solutions for clients.

  • Review and negotiate policy terms, conditions, and endorsements to optimize risk management strategies.

  • Monitor portfolio performance, track trends, and recommend adjustments to underwriting standards as needed.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.

  • Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions, risk assessments, and client interactions using internal systems.

  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in commercial insurance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, risk assessment, and underwriting practices.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial and risk data.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills for client and broker interactions.

  • Proficiency in underwriting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and risk management tools.

  • Strong decision-making abilities, attention to detail, and time management skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.

  • Proven track record in assessing risks, managing portfolios, and achieving underwriting targets.

  • Experience mentoring junior underwriters or leading small teams is highly desirable.

  • Remote work experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, flexible remote schedule.

  • Core hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility available based on client requirements).
